Role Summary:
The Senior Systems Engineer will act as a technical authority in the domain of infrastructure for manufacturing information systems. This position involves identifying strategies and designing solutions to ensure optimal service delivery to end-users of the applications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain, optimize, troubleshoot, upgrade, install, and document infrastructure related to manufacturing applications, including Linux and Windows servers, switches, firewalls, DNS, hypervisors/virtual servers, storage arrays, IPAM, access controls, and related systems.
- Administer both new and existing technologies, which includes designing, documenting, installing, configuring, maintaining, integrating, and testing manufacturing-related systems.
- Collaborate with business users to determine hardware, middleware, and application requirements.
- Work closely with software developers, manufacturing engineers, DevOps engineers, analysts, and leadership to ensure the integrity of databases, application software, and manufacturing data.
- Conduct regular system monitoring to verify the integrity, health, and availability of all systems and key processes, reviewing application and system logs, and ensuring completion of scheduled jobs.
- Lead problem-solving initiatives regarding system and service issues, and if necessary, coordinate support with external personnel, organizations, and vendors.
- Stay informed on industry trends and introduce innovative ideas and solutions.
- Develop new deliverables as required based on operational needs while adhering to best practices for documentation and distribution.
- Perform hardware and application troubleshooting related to the manufacturing process.
- Configure and deploy devices and peripherals as needed.
- Address issues, problems, and inquiries on-site as assigned through a ticketing system.
- Ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures.
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Requirements:
To ensure workplace safety, wearing PPE may be necessary, which could include equipment such as safety shoes, gloves, safety glasses, and other protective gear.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in information systems or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
Essential Qualifications:
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in a large enterprise environment.
- 3+ years of hands-on experience in data center operations.
- Technical expertise in cloud infrastructure (AWS or Azure), enterprise networking, virtualization (VMware or Hyper-V), server operating systems (Windows, Linux), storage arrays, and data center hardware.
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to present technical information clearly.
- Ability to train and support users on IT-related issues.
- Proficient in creating clear and concise documentation.
- Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced, adaptable environment.
- Creative problem solver with strong analytical and interpersonal skills.
- Willingness to work extended hours or outside of normal business hours as needed.
- Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook).
- Fluent in English, with strong reading, writing, and speaking skills.

- Experience in a manufacturing setting is advantageous.
