Underwriting Internship Opportunity in Executive

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our Executive & Professional Liability Commercial team in Chicago as an Underwriting Intern. As a key member of our team, you will participate in the underwriting, placement, and documentation of insurance policies, analyzing the merits of potential insureds through the analysis of submission materials.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist underwriters with the underwriting process, including policy placement and documentation.
- Analyze submission materials, including financial statements, earnings reports, and news articles, to assess the merits of potential insureds.
- Stay current with major world, economic, business, and industry news and developments.
- Attend and participate in BHSI training and development sessions.
- Assist with special projects as needed.
Requirements:
- Interest or majoring in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or Business.
- Strong technical skills in financial analysis, including the reading and understanding of financial statements.
- Ability to work as part of a team and independently when needed.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong customer service skills, preferably from past job or volunteer experience.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with MS Office Applications, with a focus on Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word.
- Permanent work authorization in the United States.
