Executive Underwriter

We are seeking an experienced Executive Underwriter to join our team at Allianz Commercial (AzC). As a key member of our underwriting team, you will be responsible for underwriting profitable new and renewal business to meet LoB targets in accordance with underwriting guidelines and underwriting authority.
Key Responsibilities- Contribute to the development and execution of regional underwriting strategy for LoB regionally.
- Train, develop, and coach experienced staff, including Senior Underwriters.
- Manage complex referrals from underwriters and spokes, and re-underwrite complex business as appropriate.
- Underwrite new and renewal accounts to meet top and bottom-line targets, negotiating price and terms and conditions with producers.
- Proactively manage capacity, underwriting and evaluating Natural Catastrophe Accumulation, and ensuring an understanding of catastrophe modeling and interpretation of scenarios.
- Positively represent AzC externally to the market, driving involvement of functional areas in the underwriting process.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key producers and clients, and other relevant stakeholders.
- Ensure accurate policy documentation is issued to producers or producers have issued documentation, and maintain files for each risk and transaction handled.
- Proactively support the acquisition of new business and retention of existing business, including client and producer negotiations.
- Participate in key projects, training, and development of underwriters in LoB, and refer complex cases to other underwriters.
- A minimum 7 years' proven track record in underwriting profitable Property business with greater than 7 years' property experience.
- In-depth understanding of LoB products, portfolio, regional/local insurance markets, and competitor landscape.
- Demonstrable, established relationships with brokers at the peer group level and well-established within local markets.
- Preferably a bachelor's degree in Insurance, Risk Management, Finance, Economics, or Business Administration.
- Ability to assess risk inherent exposures and natural hazards relevant to LoB, manage underwriting books, analyze trends, and scenario plans.
- Ability to analyze highly complex data from multiple sources, identify, and resolve issues before they transpire.
