Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Nurse Practitioner - Advanced Practice Provider to join our team at Detroit Wayne Integrated Health Network. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide high-quality patient care and services to children and adolescents with psychiatric needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct clinical/patient care duties and responsibilities, including psychiatric evaluations, re-evaluations, dispositions, coordination of medical services, medication orders/prescribing, monitoring patients, etc.
  • Obtain detailed history and develop patient care charts; perform physical examinations and evaluations on assigned patients; assess and treat medical problems and provide direct patient care to a specified patient population.
  • Notify attending physician on call, house physician on call, or supervising physician regarding any unusual or unexpected events or problems requiring direct physician consultation.
  • Practice safety, environmental, and/or infection control methods.
  • Supervise and/or coordinate the activities of patient care and support staff within the clinic.
  • Write progress notes on patients' charts indicating patient status and treatment procedures.
  • Provide health education to patients, families, and/or community health practitioners and groups.
  • Train and supervise clinical staff engaged in specific clinical activities.
  • Perform clinical research related to specific operations.
  • Examine patients, diagnose illnesses, and provide treatment.
  • Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests.
  • Gather health histories, perform physical examinations, and diagnostic procedures.
  • Develop and implement treatment plans.
  • Document all patient interactions.
  • Notify managing physician about unusual or unexpected events or problems.
  • Order, perform, and interpret routine laboratory tests.
  • Consult with patients in clinic settings and/or refer patients to department physicians, other specialists, and medical and community resources as necessary.
  • Prescribe medications based on patient's medical diagnosis and needs.
  • Provide education and instruction on patient's condition(s) as required.
  • Direct other medical personnel in the execution of patient care.
  • Provide immediate evaluation, treatment, and institution of procedures essential to providing appropriate response to emergency medical problems.
  • Provide complete physical examinations.
  • Interpret lab results.
  • Provide teaching and counseling to support healthy lifestyle behaviors.
  • Teach NP/PA students and other Advanced Practice Providers, as appropriate.
  • Refer patients to other health professionals as needed.
  • Determine, plan, and initiate appropriate treatment, and adjust treatment if necessary.
  • Document medical information of patients and maintain electronic medical records.
  • Maintain knowledge of current medical research and trends.
  • Support research projects.
  • Monitor and operate medical equipment.
  • Diagnose health issues.
Requirements
  • Incorporate Evidenced Based Best Practice Standards into service delivery.
  • Provide care compliant with licensing regulations and accreditation standards.
  • Determine medical necessity.
  • Research medical topics such as psychotropic medication, psychiatric evaluation, coordination of care, etc.
  • Supervise coordination of care activities.
  • Direct discharge planning.
  • Complete clinical documentation as required.
  • Provide supervision and direction to the mobile crisis team.
