Sports Program Supervisor Opportunity

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced individual to serve as a Youth Sports Coach for our sports programs in Bakersfield, CA.

Job Summary:

This position involves providing direct supervision and instruction to youth participating in sports programs. The successful candidate will be responsible for organizing and conducting practices/training sessions/games, instructing participants in technical aspects of the sport, maintaining participant rosters, and reporting accidents/hazardous conditions.

Responsibilities:

  • Organize and conduct practices/training sessions/games in accordance with program guidelines.
  • Instruct participants in all technical aspects relating to participation in the specific sport.
  • Maintain current participant rosters.
  • Report accidents and hazardous conditions as they occur.
  • Complete District-provided training recommended by the supervisor.
  • May receive on-site registration monies and forward such monies to Administrative Center in accordance with program policy.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Must be at least 16 years of age.
  • One year of experience in a coaching/teaching capacity is required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of activity may be substituted for experience.
  • Working knowledge of rules of the specific sport.
  • Ability to accommodate afternoon and/or weekend work hours.
  • Must be able to relate to other people beyond giving and receiving instructions; can get along with co-workers or peers without exhibiting behavioral extremes; perform work activities requiring negotiating, instructing, supervising, persuading or speaking with others; and respond appropriately to correction and feedback from a supervisor.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

Work activities are performed in both indoor and outdoor sports environments (dependent on specific sport) at a District facility/park or at an elementary or junior high school campus. Work activities may include demonstration of specific sport skills. Regularly required to communicate with participants.

The estimated salary for this position is $16.75 per hour.
