Role Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated individual to join our team as a Youth Health Advocate and Educator. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about improving the health and wellbeing of young people in the community.

The successful candidate will have the chance to work with middle and high school students, promoting healthy habits and lifestyles through education and mentorship. You will be responsible for leading the Teens Make Health Happen club, developing strong relationships with students and site partners, and assessing the needs and progress of your assigned schools.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement engaging health and wellness programs for middle and high school students, focusing on topics such as nutrition, physical activity, and mental wellbeing.
  • Build strong relationships with students, teachers, and site partners, ensuring effective delivery of HealthCorps' programming across 1-3 school sites.
  • Assess the needs and progress of assigned schools, identifying areas for improvement and developing strategies for growth and development.
  • Mentor and guide students in planning and leading wellness programming, including lunchtime demonstrations, step challenges, and community improvement projects.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field (public health, education, psychology, etc.) or equivalent experience.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to build rapport with diverse groups of people.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Prior experience working with youth, preferably in a educational or healthcare setting.
