Job Title: Senior Electrical Field Test Technician NETA 4 Certification Preferred

Job Summary:

ABM Industries is seeking a highly skilled Senior Field Engineer to join our Electrical Power Solutions team. As a NETA Level IV certified technician, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient installation and testing of electrical power distribution equipment for customers in the assigned territory.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Travel to customer sites to inspect, test, and troubleshoot electrical systems.
  • Supervise and mentor junior technicians in the completion of electrical testing duties.
  • Guide and train Level I and II certified NETA trainees and assistant technicians.
  • Track project scope completion and communicate with ABM and customer management.
  • Maintain, test, repair, rebuild, and replace low, medium, and high-voltage switchgear and circuit breakers.
  • Troubleshoot automatic transfer switches and test and inspect low, medium, and high-voltage cable installations.
  • Maintain, test, and repair transformers and related equipment.
  • Test and calibrate solid-state and electromechanical relays.
  • Perform relay calibration and power metering.
  • Conduct low and medium-voltage motor control center and contractor testing.
  • Start-up, troubleshoot, and repair generator controls and transfer schemes.
  • Test and commission protection and control systems on high-voltage substations.
  • Sample and interpret insulated fluids.
  • Complete Job Hazard Analyses, including arc-flash and shock analyses.
  • Review and submit timecards, expense, and project reports.
  • Document test results and complete field reports.
  • Rotate emergency on-call duty.
  • Maintain strict compliance with regulatory laws.
  • Assist in the sales process as the technical expert in electrical testing and maintenance of electrical equipment.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in electrical testing.
  • Current NETA Level III or IV, or NICET equivalent, certification.
  • Experience working in and leading a small team.
  • Experience in managing medium to large-sized projects.
  • Familiarity with NETA Acceptance and Maintenance Testing Standards.
  • Familiarity with NFPA70E Electrical Safety standards.
  • Ability to troubleshoot electrical performance deficiencies.
  • Ability to travel regionally and nationally 90%.
  • Skilled in testing digital relays and using Enoserv RTS.
  • Knowledgeable in lockout/tag out and hazardous energy control procedures.
  • Clean driving record.
  • Familiarization with Megger and Omnicron test equipment is a plus.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in an electrical testing environment.
  • Familiarity with NETA Acceptance and Maintenance Testing Standards.
