Project Accountant Job Description

Are you a detail-oriented accounting professional with a passion for supporting construction projects? Our company, NorthPoint Search Group Inc, is seeking a talented Project Accountant to join our team in Houston, TX. In this role, you will play a crucial part in ensuring the financial success of our projects by accurately recording job cost information, managing purchase orders and change orders, analyzing labor and material costs, and preparing billing reports.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate closely with assigned Project Managers to record and track job cost information accurately and efficiently.
  • Process Purchase Orders and Change Orders promptly, ensuring compliance with company policies and project specifications.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of labor and material costs, conducting regular analysis to identify trends and discrepancies.
  • Prepare detailed AIA billing reports in accordance with project milestones and client requirements.
  • Act as a key liaison between the accounting department and project teams, providing timely and accurate financial information and support.

Qualifications and Skills:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in project accounting or construction accounting.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, and complex formulas.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and provide actionable insights.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative and team-oriented approach.
  • Prior experience with AIA billing procedures and construction management software (e.g., Vista Viewpoint) preferred.
