Position Overview

Verity CPAs is in search of a Senior Tax Consultant to join our esteemed team. This role is pivotal in ensuring the precise, thorough, and timely preparation of our clients' tax submissions. The ideal candidate will possess advanced expertise in various tax and accounting disciplines, coupled with strong management and supervisory capabilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conducts comprehensive technical reviews and authorizations of all tax filings and governmental audits, regardless of complexity.
  • Takes full ownership of significant tax filings while effectively delegating tasks to tax preparers as necessary.
  • Oversees and directs tax research initiatives to ensure accuracy and efficiency in deliverables.
  • Engages actively in client consultations and tax strategy sessions, supporting the Auditing and Accounting Department with major clients.
  • Serves as a knowledgeable resource for tax preparers and A&A personnel on specific tax inquiries.
  • Handles the preparation of intricate business tax returns.
  • Maintains client service responsibilities for clients directly managed or those assigned by senior partners.
  • Communicates significant tax updates to relevant firm members that may impact client operations.
  • Manages governmental tax audits and may represent clients before relevant tax authorities.
  • Maintains awareness of the qualifications of all tax personnel; evaluates staff assignments for suitability.
  • Supervises tax staff and provides practical training opportunities.
  • Contributes to the development of skilled staff through recruitment, performance assessments, training materials, and professional development instruction.
  • Ensures the seamless processing of tax returns through the preparation system to guarantee accurate and timely submissions.
  • Possesses comprehensive knowledge of the firm's principles and perspectives on tax matters.
  • Stays informed about economic and political trends that may influence tax legislation and the business environment.
  • Participates in the firm's growth initiatives through engagement with referral networks and community involvement.

Qualifications: The successful candidate will hold a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related business field (U.S. or equivalent foreign degree) and possess a minimum of seven years of experience in public accounting, showcasing a progressive track record in tax return complexity and research. This experience must include at least one year of supervisory responsibility over tax preparers. Proficiency in tax compliance, structuring, and tax software is essential. Candidates must have successfully completed all four sections of the CPA examination as administered by the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy.
