Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Patient Care Technician/Health Unit Coordinator (PCT/HUC) to join our team at Miami Valley Hospital South. The PCT/HUC role combines the essential functions of a PCT and HUC into one position, requiring a multi-skilled individual who can perform technical and clinical tasks under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform technical and clinical tasks/procedures under the supervision of the Registered Nurse and delegated in accordance with the Ohio Board of Nursing.
  • Identify abnormal findings based on established standards and guidelines and report those findings to the Registered Nurse.
  • Provide clerical assistance to physicians and staff, including data entry and stocking/ordering of supplies.
  • Provide direction and guidance to patients, families, and visitors while promoting a positive patient experience.
Requirements
  • High School completion/GED required.
  • Current Healthcare Provider or Professional Rescuer BLS CPR certification required prior to completion of orientation.
  • Prior job-related work experience not required, but preferred experience in medical terminology and direct patient care is beneficial.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Nurse's aide training course (CNA) within the last five years.
  • Valid STNA.
  • Patient Care Technician/Assistant certification.
  • Six months direct patient care experience within the last twelve months.
  • Experience in an Acute Care setting within the last six months.
  • Currently enrolled in nursing school and completion of at least one clinical rotation.
