As a Surgical Support Specialist, you will play a vital role in facilitating the medical care of patients undergoing surgical procedures. Your responsibilities will include coordinating with various offices and ensuring that all necessary preparations are made for each patient’s surgery.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Gather essential information such as risk assessments, medication history, and referral details.
2. Communicate vital information to relevant offices and schedule patients for surgical procedures.
3. Manage correspondence with other facilities through patient portals or written communication.
Administrative Duties:
- Prepare letters and treatment trackers.
- Download and organize diagnostic images, including x-rays and CT scans.
- Ensure patients are seated appropriately based on their treatment and surgical schedule.
- Maintain a friendly and professional rapport with patients.
- Complete necessary paperwork, including informed consent and documentation of procedures.
Financial Coordination:
- Provide patients with information regarding surgical fees and insurance coverage.
- Assist in obtaining pre-authorization from insurance providers in a timely manner.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiently take various types of x-rays and ensure proper display of imaging in procedure rooms.
- Confirm treatment plans with patients and address any discrepancies with the medical team.
- Ensure patient safety by properly setting up monitors and safety equipment during procedures.
Assisting in Surgical Procedures:
As a Surgical Support Specialist, you will be involved in:
- Preparing surgical trays and ensuring the availability of necessary equipment.
- Assisting in a variety of surgical procedures, including:
- Extraction of impacted teeth
- Surgical extractions
- Implant placements
- Biopsies and other oral surgeries
- Management of post-operative care
Job Type:
Full-time
Compensation:
$25.00 per hour

Qualifications:
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in dental assisting is required.
- X-Ray Certification is preferred.
