Position Summary: The Quality Manager plays a pivotal role in overseeing and directing production quality. This position is tasked with establishing objectives, strategies, and resource allocation to align with the company’s goals. A thorough understanding of Automotive Quality Standards, including IATF Quality Standards, Customer New Product Development protocols, laboratory requirements, and manufacturing techniques is essential. The ideal candidate will exhibit strong leadership capabilities to guide Continuous Improvement teams and earn the trust of production areas.
Key Responsibilities:
- Utilize problem-solving skills and decision-making techniques to address complex product and process quality challenges.
- Possess a robust manufacturing background in high-volume, automated machining and assembly environments.
- Lead initiatives in Continuous Improvement to enhance quality, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
- Act as a vital member of the management team, contributing to the achievement of business objectives.
- Oversee the accuracy and scheduling of QA support functions, including the calibration of gauges and equipment.
- Direct efforts to minimize non-conformances and eliminate sorting/rework by coordinating necessary resources.
- Formulate plans aimed at improving quality and efficiency while simultaneously reducing costs.
- Ensure the efficient flow of materials through the department by optimizing manpower and equipment usage.
- Develop and implement continuous improvement strategies for equipment and departmental operations.
- Manage the departmental budget, ensuring financial goals are met through cost reduction strategies related to production and maintenance supplies.
- Foster collaborative relationships with associated departments such as Planning, Engineering, and Production.
- Establish and maintain effective communication channels, including toolbox meetings and employee gatherings.
- Comprehend, communicate, and adhere to all company policies, work rules, and union agreements, effectively utilizing this knowledge to resolve work-related issues and assist employees in overcoming challenges.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) is required; an advanced engineering degree is preferred.
- ASQ CMQ/QE certification or equivalent is preferred.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in manufacturing within the automotive industry is highly desirable, with 8 to 10 years of quality management experience in a manufacturing setting.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in Lean Manufacturing, Project Management, and ISO/TS16949 procedures are preferred.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities effectively, with excellent time management skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Critical and creative thinking skills are essential, especially in high-pressure situations.
- Willingness and ability to travel as required.
