Creative Operations Leadership Position

Michaels Stores is seeking a highly motivated and experienced creative operations leader to join our team in Christiansburg, VA. As an Operations Manager, you will play a critical role in driving sales and profits while protecting our assets. Your primary responsibility will be to lead and support inventory management processes, ensuring a well-merchandised and well-stocked store. You will also be responsible for leading a team of well-trained team members to deliver a customer-centric shopping experience and provide friendly customer service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Store Manager in planning and executing store workload, including scheduling and inventory management.
  • Ensure adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Company programs, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and requirements.
  • Support and participate in truck unloading and stocking processes, ensuring truck standards are followed and completed within budget.
  • Monitor and manage team performance, ensuring achievement of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Manage visual merchandising standards, including feature space and seasonal layouts.
  • Execute inventory management processes, including merchandise operations and Omni-channel processes.
  • Manage and execute shrink and safety programs.
  • Train, observe, and coach team members to achieve results, participate in performance management, and support Talent Development.
  • Interact with customers, help locate products, and provide solutions.
  • Cross-trained in Custom Framing selling and production.
  • Assist with Omni-channel processes.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Retail management leadership experience.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to remain standing for long periods of time.
  • Ability to move throughout the store.
  • Regular bending, lifting, carrying, reaching, and stretching.
  • Lifting heavy boxes and accessing high shelves by ladder or similar equipment.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Work Environment

  • Public retail store setting, with climate-controlled areas and some stock rooms that may not be climate controlled.
  • Some outdoor work may be required to retrieve shopping carts or unload trucks.
  • Frame shop contains glass cutter and heat press.
  • Work hours include nights, weekends, and early mornings.

Estimated Salary Range

$55,000 - $70,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
