The role of the Postdoctoral Research Associate involves conducting advanced interdisciplinary research focused on the pathological and therapeutic implications of extracellular vesicles in neuromuscular diseases, particularly Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). This position aims to develop effective CRISPR-mediated gene therapies.
Key Responsibilities:- Research Activities: Engage in laboratory research to explore the engineering of extracellular vesicles as in vivo delivery systems for CRISPR-based gene therapy targeting neurological disorders.
- Pathological Studies: Investigate the roles of extracellular vesicles in ALS using cellular models, including induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs), and mouse models.
- Muscle Regeneration Research: Examine the role of Fibro-adipogenic progenitors (FAPs) in muscle regeneration and reinnervation following denervation and muscle injuries.
The ideal candidate will possess a Ph.D. with a robust background in molecular biology, genetics, neuroscience, or related fields. Experience in stem cell culture, mouse genetics, and high-throughput genomic techniques is highly desirable.
Skills and Competencies:Strong oral and written communication skills are essential, along with a proven track record of research productivity and publications in reputable scientific journals.
Work Environment:This position requires minimal physical demands typical of a laboratory setting.
