Job Title: Medical Laboratory Scientist

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Scientist to join our team at Randstad Life Sciences US. As a Medical Laboratory Scientist, you will be responsible for performing laboratory tests and procedures to analyze patient specimens and provide accurate results.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Follow laboratory procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting, and maintaining records of patient test results.
  • Maintain records that demonstrate proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens.
  • Analyze specimens using approved testing procedures.
  • Review and release test results.
  • Follow CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and safety guidelines.
  • Adhere to laboratory quality control policies and document all quality control activities.
  • Identify and correct problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results.
  • Document corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from laboratory performance specifications.
  • Report STATS or Critical results to clients.
  • Answer questions from customers or other lab personnel.
  • Maintain complete records of all testing performed on-site.
  • Maintain the general appearance of the department.
  • Ensure reagents/test kits have received dates, expiration dates, and opened dates.
  • Review and train on new procedures.
  • Attend department and training meetings.
  • Participate in safety training sessions and know the location and contents of the safety manual.
  • Participate in government or regulatory agency inspections.
  • Perform other duties as directed by supervisor.

Requirements:

  • A solid understanding of basic laboratory testing is required.
  • Good computer skills and ability to adapt to working in multiple computer systems.
  • Knowledge of QC and QA, as well as all areas of the laboratory.
  • Education: BS in Medical Technology preferred, or BS/BA in Chemistry or Biology, or Associates degree in a Laboratory Science or Medical Technology.
  • Eligibility for national certification as an MT/MLT from a recognized organization (ASCP or AMT).
  • 1 year of clinical experience (high complexity testing) preferred.
