Supplier Quality Product Commodity Engineer

The Supplier Quality Product Commodity Engineer will serve as the primary quality interface between RTX's organization and the external supply base for key Engineered Items suppliers. This role is responsible for Quality Improvement, Business Level Management, and development of key suppliers. The successful candidate will perform as a unified quality voice, working closely with supply chain in strategic commodity plans, source selection and risk mitigation activities at our key and critical Engineered Items suppliers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop process improvement strategies and risk mitigation activities to be utilized across the supply base and commodities
- Closely interface with external and internal customers and key partners to establish effective relationships
- Leverage quality best practices to influence business decision-makers, ensuring efforts focus on customer priorities and mission success requirements
- Assess subcontractor/supplier quality capabilities throughout the program life cycle to achieve full program objectives
- Identify supplier risk and systemic performance issues ensuring root-cause analysis and corrective solutions are identified and implemented with closure plans
- Drive continuous product/process improvements using statistical/analytical improvement tools such as Six Sigma and lean methodologies
Requirements:
- Typically requires a Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum 8 years relevant experience
- Experience working within commercial and aerospace/defense regulations and standards - AS9100, AS9102, ISO-9000, AS9145
- Experience managing and leading suppliers with Root Cause Corrective Action methods such as 5 Why, Fishbone, etc.
- Experience working process improvement initiatives
- Experience in collecting and analyzing supplier data
Preferred Qualifications:
- Six Sigma, Lean and/or American Society for Quality (ASQ) Certification (CQE, CQM/OE, CSQE, CQA, CRE, etc.)
- Experience in DoD product and process oversight including requirements, build, integration, test and delivery
- Experience with industry technical standards (such as IPC, ANSI, CMMI, ASTM, etc.)
- Experience in collaborating with engineering, manufacturing operations, and supply chain
