Job Title: Sign Language Interpreter

We are seeking a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to join our team at Sorenson Communications. As a Sign Language Interpreter, you will play a vital role in facilitating communication between Deaf and hearing individuals in various settings.

Job Summary

Our customers rely on us to deliver accurate and reliable interpretation services, and we are seeking a talented Sign Language Interpreter to join our team.

Responsibilities
  • Effectively interpret between American Sign Language (ASL) and spoken English
  • Provide excellent customer service while maintaining a respectful and professional attitude with customers and colleagues
  • Work effectively in a team environment; receive support from and provide support to colleagues
  • Enhance interpreting skills through continuing education and training
  • Maintain compliance with any national, state, or local licensure and/or certification requirements
  • Be prompt and prepared for each interpreting engagement
  • Flexible with assignment changes
  • Ability to use technology for accurate reporting for billing, scheduling, and service evaluation
Requirements
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities in ASL: Ability to pass our required skills assessment, high school diploma or GED, associate's or bachelor's degree (preferred, but not required), interpreter certification, 3 years' experience working as an interpreter (preferred, but not required)
  • Ability to travel independently in the metropolitan area
