POSITION TITLE: Physical Education Instructor for Middle School
JOB OVERVIEW: Under the general supervision of the school administration, the Physical Education Instructor will independently educate and guide students in grades 7 and 8 across various academic, social, and behavioral domains. The role involves the design, implementation, and management of a comprehensive educational program tailored for upper elementary pupils, facilitating their personal development and exploration of career pathways.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Deliver engaging instruction in both general and specialized subjects typically included in an upper elementary curriculum, such as physical education, social sciences, and fine arts.
2. Develop lesson plans and teaching outlines utilizing approved educational frameworks and instructional guidelines.
3. Employ diverse teaching methodologies, including lectures, demonstrations, and interactive discussions, to enhance student learning experiences.
4. Utilize a variety of educational resources, tools, and materials to support instructional activities.
5. Instruct students in citizenship and other mandated subjects as per district policies.
6. Create and adapt instructional materials to meet the diverse needs of students from various socio-economic and cultural backgrounds.
7. Assess and evaluate student progress, providing tailored support to address individual educational needs.
8. Maintain a conducive learning environment through effective classroom management strategies.
9. Collaborate with parents and school personnel to discuss student progress and address educational challenges.
10. Participate in curriculum development and other non-instructional duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Successful completion of student teaching or equivalent experience in upper elementary education.
- A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution with a focus on physical education or related fields.
- A valid California Single Subject Teaching Credential in Physical Education or equivalent authorization.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
- Understanding of teaching principles and strategies for upper elementary students.
- Ability to design and implement effective instructional programs.
- Strong communication skills to engage with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Capacity to foster a motivating and supportive learning environment.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Light physical effort is required, with occasional standing or walking.
- The position is primarily indoors, requiring a focus on creating an effective learning atmosphere.
