Job Summary

Under the supervision of a certified teacher, the Instructional Assistant provides support to students in a general education or special education setting. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of child growth and development, as well as the ability to work effectively with students, teachers, and parents.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist instructional personnel in planning and implementing lesson plans
  • Tutor individual and small groups of students to reinforce learning activities
  • Supervise students in practice activities, such as math, reading, and writing
  • Assist students with reviewing homework assignments and tests
  • Direct students in safe activities and promote positive social behavior
  • Operate audio-visual equipment, office machinery, and other instructional tools
  • Prepare instructional and visual aids, such as posters and charts
  • Assist in maintaining student records and files
  • Administer tests, score, and record results
  • Collect and distribute textbooks, supplies, and equipment
  • Accompany classes on field trips and monitor student behavior
  • Attend meetings and participate in parent conferences as needed
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Completed at least two years of study at an institution of higher education or possess an AA degree
  • Bilingual Test as needed
Working Conditions

The Instructional Assistant will work in a school setting, with moderate physical effort required. A valid First Aid and CPR certificate may be required.
