Job Title: Public Defense Attorney

King County is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Public Defense Attorney to join our team. As a Public Defense Attorney, you will be responsible for providing high-quality legal representation to clients in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

Job Summary:

The Public Defense Attorney will work closely with our team of attorneys, investigators, and support staff to provide comprehensive legal services to clients. This includes conducting investigations, gathering evidence, and representing clients in court. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in public defense, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Responsibilities:
  • Conduct investigations and gather evidence to support client cases
  • Represent clients in court, including trial and appellate proceedings
  • Work closely with investigators and support staff to gather and analyze evidence
  • Develop and implement case strategies to achieve the best possible outcomes for clients
  • Communicate effectively with clients, colleagues, and court personnel
  • Stay up-to-date with changes in law and procedure to ensure the highest level of representation for clients
Requirements:
  • Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school
  • Member of the Washington State Bar Association in good standing
  • At least three years of experience in public defense or a related field
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
