About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Insurance Defense Attorney to join our team at Liberty Mutual Insurance. As a key member of our legal team, you will play a critical role in representing our company and policyholders in moderately complex civil litigation matters.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the entire legal process, from investigation and discovery to trial preparation and court proceedings.
  • Represent clients in depositions, site inspections, court hearings, trials, and negotiate settlements as required.
  • Develop and implement effective legal strategies for all stages of litigation.
  • Establish and maintain good relationships with claims representatives and insured clients.
  • Provide guidance and direction to junior attorneys, paralegals, or law clerks.
Requirements
  • Membership in the Washington State Bar (dual admission in Oregon bar preferred).
  • Appropriate special licenses to practice before boards or federal courts preferred.
  • Experience conducting discovery, depositions, oral arguments, mediations, arbitrations, hearings, and trials.
  • Experience representing insurance companies.
  • Talent for cultivating strong working relationships with internal and external partners.
  • Aptitude for detailed, analytical thinking.
  • Process-oriented mindset, with proven ability to meet deadlines and stay organized.
  • Persuasive oral and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of insurance law.
  • Familiarity with the latest developments in the practice of law, as well as pertinent knowledge in related fields.
