Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Public Defense Attorney - Supervisor to participate in our Managing Attorney Preparation Program (MAPP). This program is designed to develop and prepare current supervisors for senior leadership roles within the Department of Public Defense (DPD). As a MAPP participant, you will have the opportunity to enhance your leadership skills, gain valuable experience, and contribute to the success of our team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Participate in the MAPP program, which includes learning and development assignments, on-the-job training, and mentorship opportunities.
  • Assist the Managing Attorney with tasks such as verifying staff evaluations, drafting division communications, and consulting on policy and personnel matters.
  • Serve as a mentor to supervisors and provide guidance and support to help them develop their leadership skills.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Managing Attorney or Human Resource staff.
Requirements
  • Member of the Washington State Bar Association in good standing.
  • Experience as a Public Defense Attorney - Supervisor with a strong track record of leadership and supervision.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and build strong relationships with colleagues and stakeholders.
