Job Title: CDL Class B Driver Job Summary: We are seeking a reliable and safety-conscious CDL Class B driver to join our team at Carlisle SynTec. As a Local CDL Driver, you will be responsible for delivering customer materials within a 100-mile radius from our assigned facility. Your duties will include driving the company truck to deliver orders to customers, loading and unloading materials, and assisting in the warehouse when not driving. Key Responsibilities: * Drive and operate a Class B straight truck with a 26' bed * Deliver orders/materials/product to customers, both internal and external, while following DOT and internal safety rules using the company truck * Load and unload company truck and secure loads * Maneuver heavy materials with the use of a forklift, pallet jack, and/or hand truck * Assist in warehouse as needed * Comply with company and DOT policies and procedures, giving special attention to safety regulations * Complete pre-trip inspections, know how to maintain a legal and accurate logbook, retain fuel and toll receipts, maintain cleanliness of truck cab, document and log work/rest periods, and complete post-trip inspections * Check gauges and visual indicators for malfunctions, ensure locks on trailers are working properly, and conduct inspection of vehicle before and during trips to determine problems that may be occurring and promptly report all problems to supervisor * Other duties as assigned Working Conditions: * Monday – Friday, 1st shift * This position spends 75% of the time outside of the facility and 25% of time in the warehouse * Personal protective equipment is regularly required for this position and may include steel or composite toe boots, safety glasses, and cut-resistant gloves and arm guards Requirements: * Have a valid commercial motor vehicle operator's license issued by one state or jurisdiction * A Class B Commercial Driver's License (operating a power unit with a GVWR of 26,001 or pounds without a trailer) * Is not disqualified to drive a commercial motor vehicle under the rules in 49 CFR 391.15 * Ability to speak and read English to converse with the public, understand traffic signs and signals, respond to official questions, and make legible entries on reports and records * Drive the vehicle safely * Currently hold, or ability to obtain, a non-excepted interstate DOT medical card * Pass a driver's road test or equivalent * Must be comfortable with making local deliveries with multiple stops * No more than two (2) moving violations while operating a personal or commercial motor vehicle in the last three (3) years * No serious traffic violations while operating a personal or commercial motor vehicle in the last three (3) years * No preventable accidents while operating a CMV in the last three (3) years * No preventable DOT recordable accidents (collisions resulting in disabling damage and/or immediate medical treatment away from the scene) while operating a CMV in the last five (5) years * No preventable accident resulting in a fatality or catastrophic injury in driving history (commercial motor vehicle) * No positive or refused drug or alcohol test in the previous five (5) years and must have fully completed a DOT recognized Substance Abuse Program, as well as return to duty testing and all prescribed follow-up testing for said violation * Must currently live within 60 miles of the assigned facility or willing to establish a residence within 60 miles by 90 days from date of hire * Ability to operate a forklift Education and Experience: * High school diploma or equivalent required * Class B – minimum of 12 months verifiable experience working in a full-time Class B tractor driving position in the previous three (3) years or two (2) years of documented tractor-trailer experience in the last five (5) years * Must be at least 23 years of age
