The Fleet Maintenance Supervisor is a key member of the maintenance team at Republic Services, responsible for overseeing the maintenance of our fleet of vehicles and equipment. This role requires a strong technical background, excellent leadership skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities- Supervise a team of technicians to ensure that all maintenance work is performed in a safe and efficient manner.
- Monitor operational performance and efficiency, and take action to redirect activities as needed.
- Report to management on performance, and make recommendations for process improvements.
- Conduct daily shop huddles, fleet walks, and provide coaching and training to technicians as needed.
- Perform inspections of outside repairs to ensure compliance with company safety and compliance procedures.
- Identify training opportunities and document issues for corrective action.
- Conduct quality control inspections and track issues to ensure all work is properly completed.
- Oversee repair diagnostics and provide coaching as needed.
- Manage maintenance shop inventory control system to ensure necessary equipment and parts levels are maintained.
- Maintain advanced knowledge of engine, emission systems, transmission, brake, hydraulic, and electrical systems to perform advanced preventive and repair maintenance functions.
- High school diploma or G.E.D.
- Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Certification.
- T3 Drive, T4 Brake, T5 Suspension and Steering, T6 Electrical/Electronic, T7 HVAC Systems, ASE T2 Diesel Engine, and ASE T Master Certified.
- 3 years of experience in maintenance working with heavy equipment.
- 1 year of supervisory experience in a lead technician role, supervisor, or other management role requiring a thorough knowledge of safe working practices, DOT, OSHA, and other federal and state regulations.
