BAMSI is a 501(c) 3 nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering individuals with developmental disabilities and mental health challenges. We are seeking a Developmental Specialist to join our team and provide supportive care to our clients.
Job Summary:The Developmental Specialist will work with individuals with developmental disabilities and/or brain injuries to develop and maintain skills that foster personal growth and independence. This role requires a high level of compassion, patience, and understanding, as well as excellent communication and documentation skills.
Responsibilities:- Direct Care: Assist individuals with personal care tasks, such as toileting, grooming, and mobility. Support individuals in completing Activities of Daily Living (ADL) and Independent Living Development tasks, including cooking, cleaning, and safety.
- Communication, Documentation & Teamwork: Follow funder and agency protocol for reporting incidents and alleged abuse. Record data by the conclusion of each shift, including communication notebooks, ISP/DHSP data, and behavior tracking.
- Other: Follow funder regulations and adhere to all BAMSI policies. Understand and utilize universal/standard precautions and instructions on how to stay safe in areas that constitute risk.
- At least 3 months experience implementing behavioral support plans and emergency physical interventions.
- High school diploma or equivalency, Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred.
- A minimum one year experience working with individuals with brain injury, developmental and/or physical disabilities required.
