About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Sterile Processing Technician to join our team at Yale New Haven Health. As a key member of our Central Sterile Supply department, you will play a critical role in ensuring the highest standards of patient care and safety.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collect, transport, and process contaminated instruments, equipment, and supplies in accordance with established procedures.
  • Sort, inspect, assemble, wrap, and sterilize instrumentation, linens, and miscellaneous supplies.
  • Maintain stock levels of pre-packaged unsterile supplies and inspect, prepare, and package linens and miscellaneous items.
  • Perform and interpret sterilization monitoring activities, including preparing packages with internal chemical indicators.
  • Process, pick, and store sterile linens for the Operating Room and Surgical departments.
  • Operate equipment in a safe and proper manner, maintaining equipment and work areas in a clean and orderly condition.
Requirements
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Competent and physically able to perform all duties independently.
  • Meet or exceed production standards.
  • Achieve national certification from CBSPD or IAHCSMM within one year of employment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of Operating Room surgical instrumentation and Quality Assurance practices.
  • Ability to assemble all CSS, Surgease, and Main Operating Room surgical instrumentation.
  • Excellent knowledge of CSS operations, sterilization equipment, and sterility assurance practices.
