Position Summary

Utilizes a profound understanding of strategy and its associated tools and processes to establish strategic direction and prioritize competing priorities in collaboration with senior leadership. Promotes the adoption of strategy throughout the organization, fostering internal and external partnerships to enhance ERIE's capacity to develop a continuous strategy process. Adapts elements of the enterprise strategy system with agility, flexibility, and a strong comfort with ambiguity.

Duties and Responsibilities

Leads cross-enterprise teams of senior leaders and executives to envision, develop, and align on highly complex strategies that provide clarity and focus at the enterprise level.

Builds productive, collaborative relationships with senior leaders across the executive team with a focus on enabling a strategic, enterprise-focused, and customer-centric mindset.

Facilitates cross-team collaboration using high emotional intelligence and political acumen as a change agent and influencer across teams toward strategic alignment and prioritization.

Earns and retains a "seat at the table" by establishing trust and confidence with senior leadership, quickly grasping the operational specifics of the area, and making cross-enterprise connections.

Maintains and nurtures a strong understanding of enterprise strategy and connection with measurable outcomes (e.g., KPIs, OKRs, etc.), ensuring strategic alignment across the enterprise and signaling the need for a refresh when changes occur.

Translates complex topics/data into a clear narrative and direction, including data visualization and constructing frameworks often from scratch.

Identifies strategic gaps and influences senior leaders to develop solutions that benefit both the business area and the enterprise.

Frames, develops, assesses, and maintains cross-enterprise and key downstream strategies in partnership with executive and senior leadership.

Facilitates the integration of strategy into execution plans and alignment of strategic objectives/initiatives with resource requirements (e.g., talent, IT, financial).

Synthesizes comprehensive knowledge of market dynamics, emerging risks, and the company's internal operations to develop a forward-looking focus for the enterprise.

Provides clear guidance to steer teams comprised of internal and external resources, leveraging deep expertise in strategy.

Qualifications

Master's degree in a related field such as business, finance, IT, research, etc., and five years of strategy or strategy-related experience required; or

Bachelor's degree in a related field such as business, finance, IT, research, etc., and eight years of strategy or strategy-related experience required.
Demonstrated application of strategic and operational planning concepts required.

Prior experience planning, framing, and facilitating large multi-phase strategic engagements required.

Experience with Agile methodology (Scrum, Kanban, LEAN, OKRs, etc.) at the enterprise level preferred.

Knowledge of Change Management techniques preferred.

Consultancy experience or knowledge of the insurance industry preferred.
