Job Summary

The Tulane Recovery Community (TRC) Resident Director plays a pivotal role as a professional staff member residing on-site, responsible for the overall operation of the TRC House. This position is a collaborative venture between The Dean of Students Office and the Office of Housing and Residential Life.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage the TRC House, specifically designed for students self-identifying as being in 'Recovery' from a substance use disorder or problematic relationship with substances.
  • Initiate, implement, maintain, and evaluate efforts within the TRC House that result in educational, social, and cultural growth for both individual students in recovery and the entire living community.
  • Focus on six primary areas: Recovery Community Support, Administrative Duties, Crisis Response and Student Support, Community Development, Student Development, and Departmental Responsibilities.
  • Act as a catalyst for student engagement within the TRC House, exemplifying an active recovery practice as a positive role model.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited higher education institution by the date of hire.
  • Minimum of 18 months experience in addiction/recovery peer support.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in a relevant field such as Counseling, Social Work, Higher Education Administration, or a related discipline. Addiction Recovery credential.
  • Previous experience in residence life or recovery housing management, specifically in a collegiate setting.
  • Personal or professional experience in the field of recovery from substance use disorders, providing a deeper understanding and empathy for the challenges faced by students in recovery.
  • Experience in crisis management and the ability to effectively manage emergencies within a residential recovery community.
  • Familiarity with collegiate recovery programs.
