We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Optician to join our team at BJ's Wholesale Club. As an Optician, you will be responsible for dispensing spectacles and other optical products to our members, working with prescriptions written by optometrists and ophthalmologists.
Key Responsibilities- Verify order data entry and compare Rx to original Rx provided from the doctor to ensure accuracy.
- Deliver exceptional member service in person and over the phone, explaining procedures and maintaining a friendly demeanor.
- Take measurements, select frames, read prescriptions, and notify members of product readiness.
- Strive to deliver sales and metric goals by educating members on product benefits and recommending suitable options.
- Assist members with eyeglass adjustments and repairs, and provide support to the Optical Manager with opening and closing procedures.
- Licensed to work as an optician within the state and maintain an active license.
- Knowledge of optical products and business practices preferred.
- High school diploma, college degree, or relevant experience in big box wholesale, retail, or optical.
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills, with attention to detail.
- Open shift availability required for full-time positions.
The Optician will work in a comfortable indoor area with frequent exposure to temperature extremes and loud noises. The role requires occasional lifting of objects up to 20 pounds and may involve using Optical hand tools to adjust and repair members' eyeglasses.
