Overview: This role is pivotal in negotiating and overseeing the procurement of specific commodities essential for production and the development of new products, all while aiming to reduce costs and manage inventory levels effectively. Alpha Technologies stands at the forefront of designing, manufacturing, servicing, and supporting precision rubber and polymer laboratory instrumentation and data acquisition/analysis software systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the vendor qualification and selection process for all new product initiatives.
- Engage in negotiations with suppliers to achieve quality, delivery, and cost targets.
- Formulate strategic procurement strategies for designated commodities.
- Maintain and enhance vendor relationships.
- Initiate, assess, and implement corrective measures to uphold vendor performance.
- Drive efforts for inventory reduction while ensuring the availability of materials.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives and Kaizen/Lean/Six Sigma projects.
- Build and sustain relationships with supplier personnel and internal stakeholders at all levels.
- Conduct contract negotiations to secure the most favorable terms and conditions.
- Manage new part setups within the MRP system.
- Analyze market and supplier conditions that could influence future procurement activities.
- Monitor current and potential sourcing markets, developing strategies based on gathered market intelligence.
- Identify and spearhead process enhancement initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Purchasing, Materials Management, or a related field is required.
- A minimum of 6 years of strategic sourcing experience in an engineering or manufacturing context is essential.
- Experience sourcing electrical or machined components is preferred.
- Strong analytical and data management capabilities are necessary.
- Project management skills are required.
- Ability to engage with all levels of the organization.
- Demonstrated leadership abilities are crucial.
- Capacity to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in leading and adapting during periods of change.
- Ability to collaborate effectively within a team-oriented environment.
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency in PC applications, including MS Office.
- Familiarity with MRP principles and materials management in a manufacturing setting is beneficial.
- APICS and/or CPM certification is a plus.
- Knowledge of import/export regulations and compliance is advantageous.
- Ability to collaborate across various geographies and departments.
- Strong organizational skills to manage multiple priorities and work independently.
