About the Role

The Christ Hospital is seeking a skilled Scheduler to join our team. As a Scheduler, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our office by scheduling patient care activities and facilitating communication between physicians, patients, and referring physicians.

Key Responsibilities

  • Schedule and reschedule appointments, as well as cancel appointments as needed.
  • Route messages to appropriate staff and utilize In Basket Messages to ensure timely communication.
  • Make outbound phone calls to schedule referring patients and ensure accurate demographic and billing information.
  • Work collaboratively in Epic and Patient Sync to efficiently handle call volume and manage call queues.
  • Collect and document patient information in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Identify and document issues that impact departmental workflow and provide feedback to management.
  • Participate in activities related to organizational, regulatory, and governmental compliance.
  • Answer customer inquiries regarding preparations for appointments, directions to clinics, and general hospital information.
  • Ensure accuracy and appropriate documentation of patient information.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • One to three years' experience in customer service, with medical office experience and prior scheduling experience preferred.
  • Copier, fax, telephone system, postage equipment, and computer skills (Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel) required.
  • Strong verbal and social skills to facilitate working respectfully with patients, physicians, visitors, co-workers, and drug reps.
  • Excellent customer service skills and analytical skills to make decisions based on facility and clinical situations.
  • Knowledge of health insurance coverage, requirements, and HIPAA privacy requirements.
