Position Summary:

We are in search of a highly qualified and seasoned Lead Mechanical Engineer to contribute to our projects at Primus Builders, a distinguished firm specializing in cold-storage design and construction. The Lead Mechanical Engineer will be instrumental in the design, planning, and execution of intricate cold-storage initiatives, focusing on maximizing performance, energy efficiency, and adherence to industry regulations. The ideal candidate will possess a Professional Engineer (PE) license and demonstrate a successful history in designing and overseeing mechanical systems for cold-storage environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct and manage the mechanical engineering components of cold-storage projects from initial concept through to construction and commissioning.
  • Innovate and design efficient mechanical systems, including HVAC, refrigeration, ventilation, and plumbing, specifically for cold-storage applications.
  • Perform thorough engineering calculations, simulations, and analyses to guarantee systems fulfill performance, energy efficiency, and safety criteria.
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, including architects, structural engineers, electrical engineers, and project managers, to ensure seamless integration of mechanical systems into the overall project framework.
  • Create detailed technical drawings, specifications, and design documentation for mechanical systems, ensuring precision and compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Offer technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and drafters within the mechanical engineering division.
  • Conduct site evaluations and assessments to analyze existing systems, identify design challenges, and propose effective solutions for optimal system integration.
  • Engage with clients and stakeholders to ascertain project requirements, objectives, and limitations, delivering effective technical solutions that align with project goals.
  • Lead coordination and communication efforts with external partners, subcontractors, and equipment suppliers to ensure timely procurement and installation of mechanical systems.
  • Monitor project timelines, evaluate risks, and proactively address challenges to uphold project schedules and budgets.
  • Review and validate design documentation, change orders, and specifications to ensure quality control and accuracy.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, advancements, and best practices in cold-storage mechanical engineering, applying this knowledge to enhance project designs.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable industry standards, codes, regulations, and safety protocols.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related discipline; a Master's degree is advantageous.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Over 10 years of experience in mechanical engineering, particularly in designing systems for cold-storage facilities.
  • Proficient in design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, and HVAC design tools.
  • In-depth knowledge of HVAC, refrigeration, ventilation, and plumbing systems tailored for cold-storage environments.
  • Proven success in managing complex mechanical engineering projects from inception to completion.
  • Exceptional problem-solving, analytical, and communication abilities.
  • Strong project management skills, with the capacity to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Comprehensive understanding of industry codes, regulations, and standards related to cold-storage facility design and mechanical systems.
  • Able to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams and communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities with the ability to mentor and guide junior engineers.
  • Experience with sustainable design practices and energy-efficient systems is a plus.
