Job Title: Pilot/Mechanic

Smith Douglas Homes is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Pilot/Mechanic to join our team based out of our Woodstock, Georgia office.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a talented individual with exceptional flying skills and comprehensive knowledge of aircraft systems, mechanics, and avionics. As a Pilot/Mechanic, you will be responsible for providing safe and efficient transportation in support of Smith Douglas Homes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Flight Operations:
    • Safely operate various aircraft in accordance with established protocols, procedures, and aviation regulations.
    • Conduct pre-flight inspections to ensure aircraft airworthiness.
    • Review routes and create flight plans.
    • Communicate effectively with air traffic control and ground personnel during flight operations.
  • Aircraft Maintenance:
    • Perform routine and scheduled maintenance tasks on aircraft, including inspections, servicing, and repairs.
    • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and avionics issues to ensure aircraft readiness.
    • Conduct post-flight inspections and documentation to assess and address any maintenance requirements.
    • Collaborate with the maintenance team to develop and implement maintenance schedules and procedures.
    • Keep accurate records of maintenance activities, including logbook entries and maintenance reports.
    • Stay updated on industry developments, regulations, and best practices related to aircraft maintenance and avionics.
  • Safety and Compliance:
    • Adhere to all aviation regulations, safety standards, and company policies to ensure safe flight operations and maintenance practices.
    • Participate in safety training programs and contribute to the development of safety protocols.
    • Conduct risk assessments and implement risk mitigation measures during flight operations and maintenance activities.
Requirements:
  • FAA Commercial Pilot Certificate with Multi-Engine and Instrument Rating.
  • FAA CFII (Certified Flight Instructor – Instrument) certification preferred.
  • FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) Mechanic Certificate.
  • Minimum of 1,500 hours of flight experience, with experience in Lear 60, Lear 31, Baron and Cirrus preferred.
  • Proven experience in aircraft maintenance, with a strong understanding of aircraft systems, mechanics, and avionics.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to perform under pressure.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with flight crews and maintenance personnel.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to upholding the highest standards of safety and professionalism.
  • Flexibility to work irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as needed.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
