Job Opportunity: Resident Coordinator

Fairstead is seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Resident Coordinator to join our team. As a key member of our community, you will play a vital role in providing support and referral services to residents in our subsidized multifamily properties.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Serve as a liaison between Community Managers and residents to ensure seamless annual recertifications.
  • Collaborate with NYCHA to ensure compliance with annual recertifications and deadlines.
  • Work closely with management to prevent eviction for non-payment of rent or lease violations.
  • Act as the primary contact for residents, non-profits, and city/state agencies for program implementation and registration.
  • Represent Fairstead at community meetings and social services events.
  • Identify opportunities to improve resident services and support Fairstead's mission.
  • Assist with community relations, including public meetings and Tenant Association events.
  • Track and maintain social services activities, adhering to local, city, state, and federal guidelines.
  • Maintain a Resource Directory for residents to access state and local service providers.
  • Ensure accurate records, documentation, and files, particularly sensitive or complex cases.
  • Provide administrative support, including typing letters and memos, tracking visits and calls, and overseeing telephone services.
  • Answer phones professionally and adhere to phone techniques outlined in the policy and procedures manual.
  • Assist with work requests and expedite their completion, maintaining records as required.
  • Maintain courteous communications with residents, applicants, and representatives of other companies.
  • Support clerical and support staff with their assigned duties, particularly when advanced or sensitive work is required.

Requirements:
  • Demonstrated volunteer and community experience.
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred.
  • Positive outgoing attitude and excellent customer service skills.
  • Proficient listener with excellent interpersonal skills, including tact and diplomacy.
  • Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite and data tracking systems like Family Metrics and Yardi.
  • Able to effectively present information and respond to questions from management, vendors, and associates.
  • Adhere to tight deadlines and quick turnaround for deliverables.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic environment where adaptability is imperative.
  • Strong written and oral skills.
  • Accurate with a strong attention to detail.
