About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Advanced Practice Nurse or Physician Assistant to join our team at the Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer Center at Emerson Hospital. As a key member of our interdisciplinary cancer care team, you will provide direct and indirect clinical care to our oncology population in a collaborative and patient-centered environment.

Responsibilities
  • Provide direct care to the Medical Oncology population in collaboration with the oncologist and the MGHCC at Emerson team.
  • Perform and record patient history and physical exams, and discuss findings with the physician.
  • Apply advanced practice knowledge to identify, prevent, or solve sophisticated and/or recurring patient care problems.
  • Follow and manage patients in collaboration with the MD, improving continuity of care.
  • Perform medically delegated aspects of patient care as agreed upon by nursing and medical administrators per practice guidelines.
  • Collaborate with unit staff and physicians to facilitate a comprehensive plan of care and coordinate resources.
  • Write orders in accord with current guidelines.
  • Maintain and practice in accord with practitioner guidelines per state and hospital regulations.
  • Provide consultation to both nurses and physicians.
  • Serve as a resource to staff in areas of expertise.
  • Serve on appropriate intra and interdepartmental committees.
  • Develop educational programs within areas of expertise.
Requirements
  • Master's Degree in Nursing or completion of NCCPA program.
  • Current licensure in the commonwealth of Massachusetts as a registered NP/PA.
  • 3 Years Advanced Practice experience in hematology/oncology experience required.
  • Proficiency with Epic and telemedicine preferred.
  • Familiarity with clinical trials preferred.
  • Ability to effectively communicate clinical information, care plans, etc. to medical and lay audiences.
  • Skilled in crafting appropriate documentation and use of electronic medical records.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as a member of a team.
