The Permitting Technician plays a crucial role in the Code Administration Department, ensuring compliance with regulations and facilitating the permitting process for residential and commercial building projects. Key responsibilities include reviewing permit applications, issuing necessary permits, and communicating with contractors and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities- Review and process building permit applications
- Issue permits for building, fire, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and other related services
- Coordinate with contractors and stakeholders to ensure compliance with regulations
- Perform billing, acceptance, and processing of payments
- Identify flood zones and other jurisdictions that apply, and verify address information
To be successful in this role, the ideal candidate will possess an Associate's Degree in a related field, such as planning or a related field, and have some experience in technical and administrative support work in a governmental setting. The candidate must also be physically able to operate a variety of office equipment and be able to exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally.
