UT Southwestern Medical Center is seeking a part-time Diagnostic Imaging Technologist to join our team at the Simmons Comprehensive Cancer Center.
Key Responsibilities- Review physician orders for accuracy, diagnosis, and applicability to selected CT protocol.
- Screen patients for contrast allergies, contraindications, and appropriateness that would prohibit or modify the CT exam.
- Communicate with Radiologists to discuss stat/urgent findings.
- Interview patients, conduct patient screening, and obtain medical history pertaining to procedure's clinical criteria.
- Explain procedures and instruct patients on necessary requirements needed to provide diagnostic images.
- Administer intravenous injections of contrast material as appropriate, while observing patients for adverse reactions.
- Assist physicians as needed in performing procedures.
- Ensure that images and information are properly documented with patient identification data and appropriate labeling.
- Perform CT exams ensuring that patients meet radiation safety requirements to ALARA principles.
- Assist patients in dressing for exams and attend to patients' physical well-being while transporting to and from exam rooms and positioning for exams.
- Communicate with patients and/or patients' families regarding the tests to be performed and evaluate patients' ability to tolerate.
- American Registry of Radiologic Technologists - ARRT (CT) certification required.
- Licensed by Texas Medical Board (TMB) as a Medical Radiologic Technologist.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, course accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) by first day of employment required.
- Associates degree in Radiologic Sciences or Graduate from AMA-approved school; Bachelor's degree preferred.
Work is performed primarily in a hospital or hospital clinic environment.
This position is security-sensitive and subject to Texas Education Code *51.215, which authorizes UT Southwestern to obtain criminal history record information.
