About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Civil/Geotechnical Engineer to join our US Mine Waste team at WSP. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading the civil design of mine waste containment and heap leach facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the design of mine waste containment and heap leach facilities, including initial layout and design, site selection, and geotechnical and hydrologic analyses.
  • Manage and execute geotechnical engineering projects, including geotechnical field investigations, laboratory testing programs, data interpretation, and geotechnical analysis.
  • Scope, direct, and review complex geotechnical analyses, including soil mechanics, stability, seepage, thermal modeling, and deposition modeling.
  • Independently manage projects according to client-approved scopes of work and deliver high-quality reports on time and within budget.
  • Provide or contribute to client relationship and business development activities, focused on building and growing our business.
  • Work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary project teams and support technical proposals and design work packages.
  • Manage the work of junior engineers and remain current in the latest geotechnical engineering techniques and practices.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil/Geotechnical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
  • 5-7 years of relevant post-education experience in engineering and prior geotechnical design experience.
  • Professional Engineer registration.
  • Demonstrated experience working on heavy civil/earthworks-related projects and experience in commonly used software packages.
  • Sound knowledge in soil mechanics and geotechnical engineering.
  • Demonstrated client liaison and business development skills.
  • Project management experience with small to mid-level projects.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Highly capable self-leadership with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities.
