Job Title: Limited Scope Medical Assistant - Lewistown Primary Care Clinic
Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Limited Scope Medical Assistant to join our team at the Lewistown Primary Care Clinic. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide high-quality patient care and support to our patients and healthcare providers.
Responsibilities:
- Provide patient care and support in an ambulatory clinic setting
- Prepare patients for healthcare provider visits and maintain a positive and caring attitude
- Coordinate care, administer care, and document patient information accurately
- Obtain and record patient information, including vital signs, medical history, and chief complaint
- May be required to draw and collect blood samples and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis
- Perform routine tests, including EKGs, hearing and vision screens, as requested by the healthcare provider
- Communicate test results to patients and establish a plan of care by phone or mail as directed by the healthcare provider
- Document patient plans of care, tests, and examination results in the medical record as directed by the healthcare provider
- Prepare, clean, and sterilize instruments and maintain equipment; stock patient exam rooms while maintaining cleanliness and organization
- Administer ordered medications and/or vaccines via oral, injection, topical, rectal, ophthalmic, and/or inhalant administration
- Perform clinical diagnostic x-rays and prepare completed studies for provider review
- Perform all required processor and equipment maintenance and quality control processes
- Prepare patients for radiologic procedures and protect patients, self, and other staff from radiation hazards
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Current Limited Scope certificate and state license
- Maintain radiology education
- Current BLS certification endorsed by the American Heart Association or the ability to obtain within 60 days of hire (with prior approval)
- Minimum of three (3) months of previous experience within a healthcare setting
- Successful completion of initial MA onboarding program within 90 days, annual skills fair, and in-services for site-specific tasks
Preferred Qualifications:
- Successful completion of an Accredited National Certification Exam (ie: AAMA or AMT) for Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA)
- At least one (1) year of Medical Assistant experience
Physical Requirements:
- Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies
- Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency
- Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy
- Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients
- Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment
- Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment
- May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time
