Position Summary
This role involves a variety of responsibilities in the preparation of meals that support the dietary needs of our residents. You will be responsible for executing meal services in accordance with prescribed dietary guidelines.
Your duties will include preparing, cooking, seasoning, and portioning meals for residents, staff, and visitors, ensuring adherence to menu specifications and dietary requirements.
You will maintain high standards of food quality in terms of appearance, flavor, temperature, and sanitation. Responsibilities also include cleaning and sanitizing cooking and serving areas, as well as proper labeling and storage of food items and equipment. Your goal will be to provide the highest quality and safest food possible to all individuals within the facility. This position requires effective communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with various internal stakeholders.Demonstrate your culinary skills and adaptability in a dynamic kitchen environment.
You will follow standardized recipes and Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) protocols to ensure safe food preparation, storage, and handling.
Document HACCP procedures, temperatures, and results to guarantee the safety of food served, while adhering to production schedules for daily and weekly menus.
Utilize kitchen equipment such as mixers, slicers, kettles, ovens, grills, and dishwashers effectively.
You should be capable of working independently when required and possess a solid understanding of food safety and sanitation practices. Basic math skills are necessary for accurate measurements, along with the ability to read and comprehend recipes.Be prepared to be on your feet for extended periods and navigate throughout the facility.
Qualifications
A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
Ability to read, write, and follow both oral and written instructions is essential.
At least one year of prior cooking experience is required, with a preference for experience in therapeutic diets.
Strong line cooking skills are necessary to ensure timely preparation of meals in coordination with patient tray assembly.Depending on the location, obtaining Serv Safe certification may be required within a specified timeframe. You must also complete annual continuing education requirements, including departmental meetings and safety training.
