Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse Academy program at Conway Medical Center provides a comprehensive three-month orientation to bridge the gap between educational nursing program graduation and the demands of an independent nurse in the acute care setting.

With ongoing support and education from clinical nurse preceptors, nurse educators, and nurse managers, participants will navigate an intensive orientation process within direct placement to the Medical, Surgical, or Telemetry units.

Upon successful completion of the program and satisfaction of customer service and core values assessment standards, participants will work full-time as assigned (Medical, Telemetry, and Surgical).

Academy graduates will be placed into nursing positions as they become available.

Requirements:

* Associates degree (ADN) in Nursing required.

* Bachelor's degree (BSN) in Nursing preferred.

* Current license as a Registered Nurse in the State of South Carolina in good standing.

* BLS Certification Required.

* Exemplary core customer service skills strongly required.

* Strong organizational skills.

* Strong PC skills required.

* Strong verbal and written communication skills required.

* Ability to remain calm and professional in high stress situations required.

Working Conditions:

* Occasional exposure to difficult patients.

* Potential exposure to blood borne and airborne pathogens.

* Most work performed while standing, with a high amount of walking and moving around within a confined area occurs.

Physical Requirements:

* Medium - While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, sit, and walk; occasionally to use hands, fingers; and frequently to talk or hear.

* The employee must exert 20 to 35 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 15 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

* Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

* Ability to hear to process instructions and safety code and alarms required.
