Job Overview:

The Refrigeration Systems Technician is tasked with the fabrication, assembly, installation, and maintenance of refrigeration and climate control systems, adhering to blueprints, schematic diagrams, and established engineering protocols to ensure operational efficiency for the hospital and associated facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Utilize manufacturer specifications to conduct inspections and tests on electrical and signal circuits
  • Demonstrate strong troubleshooting capabilities, performing repairs or modifications on compressors, motors, condensers, fans, thermostats, ducts, pipes, and other mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems
  • Assist in the transportation of materials and tools using hand, dolly, or truck
  • Monitor mechanical devices, pumps, engines, and refrigeration/air conditioning systems, listening for operational anomalies to identify issues
  • Adjust functional components of devices and control instruments, or install specialized functional and structural parts as needed
  • Work autonomously or collaboratively with electricians, engineers, plumbers, or sheet metal workers
  • Be prepared to work in various weather conditions

Additional Responsibilities May Include:

  • Setting up and operating metalworking tools such as lathes, drill presses, and grinders to fabricate and repair components
  • Initiating devices to evaluate their performance
  • Maintaining records of equipment, including type, model number, installation date, and service history
  • Exhibiting color discrimination to accurately connect wires based on color coding
  • Performing other assigned duties as necessary
