Job Summary

The Ophthalmic Technician works with Ophthalmologists to provide patient care by performing various eye-related clinical functions. This role assists in taking patient histories, performing procedures and tests, and prepares patients for exams.

Responsibilities

• Assists ophthalmologists with patient procedures
• Obtains and records relevant patient information
• Instructs patients about medications, tests, and procedures
• Performs various vision and diagnostic tests
• Answers telephone calls and receives and documents messages
• Schedules appointments with accurate patient information
• Types documents accurately and assists in maintaining a neat and orderly filing system
• Trains other ophthalmic technicians and performs other duties as assigned

Requirements

This role requires a high school graduate or its equivalency, current BLS from the American Heart Association for Healthcare Providers, and ophthalmic technician certification preferred. Experience in medical front office procedures and basic computer skills are also desirable. The selected candidate must have proven ability to maintain professional conduct and confidentiality in patient care.

Work Environment

This position is a part-time requirement of 64-71 hours in a two-week pay period, working with a team to provide quality patient care.
