We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Truck Driver - Sewer Collection to join our team at the City of Portsmouth New Hampshire. As a key member of our Public Works department, you will be responsible for operating heavy equipment and trucks to perform semi-skilled municipal maintenance and construction work.
Key Responsibilities- Operate a variety of heavy equipment and trucks, including dump trucks, flatbed trucks, and trailers, to perform tasks such as clearing debris, laying asphalt, and repairing ditches.
- Direct the work of semi-skilled and unskilled workers in routine maintenance and construction activities, such as clearing vegetation, painting, and installing water mains and hydrants.
- Perform various semi-skilled tasks essential to public works and utility operations, using a wide variety of power, pneumatic, and hand tools.
- Prepare and maintain job site and work safety practices, and respond to emergencies after normal working hours.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; three years of experience in construction or maintenance work preferred.
- Valid commercial driver's license, class B, and no offenses that would prohibit or restrict any insurance carrier providing coverage to the City.
- New hires must obtain a NH Water Distribution License Grade I and a NH Sewer Collection License Grade I within 18 months of appointment.
