Position Summary

The Lead Operating Room Nurse is tasked with overseeing the surgical team and ensuring the highest standards of patient care during surgical procedures. This role requires the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while maintaining composure under pressure.

The RN will utilize effective communication skills, both verbal and non-verbal, to achieve organizational goals related to patient satisfaction and a supportive work atmosphere.

As part of the team, you will be accountable for the quality of nursing services provided by yourself and those under your supervision.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare for surgical procedures by assessing patients and reviewing their medical histories and consent forms.
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team, adjusting as necessary based on patient needs.
  • Ensure all necessary supplies and instruments are ready and the operating room is properly set up.
  • Document all surgical procedures accurately and in a timely manner, adhering to organizational policies.
  • Maintain aseptic technique and participate in safety protocols throughout the surgical process.
  • Assist in the training and orientation of new surgical staff and students as required.
Minimum Qualifications

Education:
Associates Degree in Nursing required; Bachelor's Degree preferred.

Experience:
Minimum of one year of experience in an operating room setting; experience in a Level 1 trauma environment is preferred.

Licenses/Certifications:
Current RN license in the state of practice, BLS certification, ACLS certification required.

Work Hours:
36 hours per week
