We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Server Assistant to join our team at Mohonk Mountain House. As a Server Assistant, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our dining rooms, providing exceptional service to our guests, and maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and organization.
Key Responsibilities- Stocking and Maintenance: Stock service stations with linens, china, glassware, silverware, ice, condiments, and other food products before, during, and after each meal period.
- Beverage Preparation: Prepare all beverages required for service, including coffee and hot water.
- Dining Room Setup and Breakdown: Set up dining rooms and special functions with appropriate numbers of tables, chairs, and settings, as well as setting up and maintaining buffets, and break down event areas when necessary.
- Storage and Organization: Organize and maintain clean storage areas throughout the Mohonk Mountain House.
- Delivery and Stocking: Receive delivery, organize, and stock both clean and soiled linens according to procedure.
- Team Collaboration: Work in coordination with kitchen staff and other dining room staff ensuring the efficient operation of the restaurant.
- Guest Service: Take and receive food and beverage orders from guests and serve in an efficient, timely, and professional manner following the established sequence of service.
- Anticipation and Problem-Solving: Anticipate guest needs and meet them before you are asked to, and analyze problems and develop and implement action plans to address problems.
- Communication and Teamwork: Answer guest questions with accurate information and demonstrate a friendly and helpful personality by smiling, eye contact, initiating conversation, and engaging with others.
- Physical Demands: Negotiate stairs up and down while carrying full trays, work under crowded and noisy conditions, and navigate around guests with loaded trays.
- Equipment Handling: Handle dishes and glassware carefully, provide proper service of food and beverage items, and set and reset tables with linen, silverware, dishware, and glassware.
- Adaptability and Flexibility: Offer and replenish food and beverages proactively, clean before, during, and after service, maintaining high standards of cleanliness, and store food in accordance with safe food-handling procedures.
- Confidentiality and Safety: Maintain confidentiality of guests' personal information and use with discretion, operate vehicles safely while driving and/or parking in compliance with Mohonk Mountain House Traffic Rules and Regulations, and adhere to Mohonk Mountain House's Dress and Grooming Standards.
- Age: At least 18 years of age.
- Communication Skills: Speak, read, and write in English and communicate in a clear and congenial manner, with our guests, visitors, and employees.
- Physical Abilities: Reach with hands and arms, bend, kneel, stoop, twist, and flex arms, walk up and down stairs/inclines, sit, climb up/down ladders, and stand for up to 5 hours at a time.
- Lifting and Carrying: Lift up to 50 lbs. from ground level to waist height, and from waist height to shoulder height, and carry up to 100 feet without assistance.
- Teamwork and Adaptability: Work productively and efficiently with or without supervision when performing routine tasks, and maintain a flexible work schedule including days/nights, weekdays/weekends, holidays, and during peak periods of business.
