Job Description:
As a Software Automation Engineer at Tesla, you will play a critical role in developing software applications that automate or streamline parts of the design process for our Vehicle Engineering department. With thousands of talented engineers working on mechanical and industrial design, your expertise will help make their tools intelligent and dynamic.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop robust applications using languages such as Java, Go, C++, C#, jQuery, Node.js, and Bash.
  • Act as a strong individual contributor, working independently on new or existing projects.
  • Write and review design documents, including new services/features, refactors, technology choices, and process changes.
  • Participate in code reviews, offering constructive feedback to improve code quality and maintainability.
  • Manage tasks via Jira for observability and human capacity planning, maintaining excellent Jira hygiene.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation, manage incidents as Incident Commander, and write actionable incident reports.
  • Work cross-functionally, collaborating with other teams to understand and address their needs.
  • Provide mentorship to junior engineers, fostering their professional growth.

Requirements:
  • Strong knowledge of at least one programming language related to our stack: Java, Go, C++, C#, jQuery, Node.js, and Bash.
  • Strong understanding of distributed systems architecture and event streaming platforms.
  • Strong knowledge of REST and/or gRPC-based APIs and microservice architecture.
  • Strong understanding of one or more database technologies.
  • Familiarity with code reviews in the context of a team and providing constructive feedback to others.
  • Familiarity with diagnosing problems and incidents in multi-layered enterprise applications.
  • Familiarity with containerization and deployment configuration with Docker and Kubernetes is preferred.

Benefits:
We offer a competitive salary range of $140,000 - $252,000 per annum, along with cash and stock awards, and comprehensive benefits, including medical, dental, vision plans, 401(k) matching, employee assistance programs, and more.
