Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Principal Operations Software Engineer to join our team. This role requires a professional with a deep understanding of Python, AWS, GitLab, and CI/CD pipeline configurations, along with a systems-thinking approach to development and operations.
Responsibilities:
- Design and Optimize CI/CD Pipelines: Design, configure, and optimize CI/CD pipelines to automate the software delivery process, ensuring smooth integrations and reliable deployments.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with development teams to ensure that infrastructure, automation, and monitoring are aligned with development and operational goals.
- Python Development: Write robust, modular, and maintainable Python code to manage operational tasks and integrations, leveraging expertise in automation tools and scripts.
- Infrastructure Management: Oversee GitLab environments, including version control, automated builds, and deployment processes, and leverage AWS services to build, maintain, and optimize scalable cloud-based infrastructures.
- Monitoring and Logging: Implement monitoring and logging tools to ensure system reliability and preemptively identify issues, fostering collaboration between developers, testers, and IT operations.
- Security and Compliance: Implement security best practices in all stages of the development lifecycle, from design to deployment, ensuring proper authentication and authorization controls.
- Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement by analyzing performance metrics, identifying bottlenecks, and making data-driven recommendations to optimize operational workflows.
- Mentorship: Provide mentorship and support to junior team members, ensuring alignment with best practices and industry standards.
Requirements:
- 5+ Years of Experience: 5+ years of experience in software engineering, with a strong focus on operations and DevOps practices.
- Expertise in Python: Expertise in Python programming for building automation tools and scripts.
- AWS Experience: Solid hands-on experience with AWS (Amazon Web Services), including deploying and managing infrastructure.
- GitLab Proficiency: Proficiency with GitLab for managing version control, CI/CD configurations, and pipelines.
- System Thinking: Strong understanding of Git for managing and tracking code changes across teams and environments.
- Containerization and Orchestration: Experience in setting up and managing CI/CD pipelines, including testing, release, and deployment automation, as well as knowledge of containerization and orchestration technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
- Monitoring Tools: Knowledge of monitoring tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, or CloudWatch for system health tracking and performance management.
- Automated Testing: Experience with automated testing frameworks and implementing security measures in CI/CD workflows.
- IaC Tools: Familiarity with infrastructure as code (IaC) tools like Terraform or AWS CloudFormation.
- Communication Skills: Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment, ensuring that solutions are delivered on time and within budget, with strong communication skills and the ability to work across cross-functional teams and manage multiple stakeholders.
Salary: The expected base pay range for this role is $156,000–$186,500 USD per annum.
