Surgical ICU Nurse Specialist

Cleveland Clinic Indian River Hospital is seeking a skilled Surgical ICU Nurse Specialist to join our team in Vero Beach, Florida. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the success of our hospital.
About the JobThe Surgical ICU Nurse Specialist will be responsible for caring for patients recovering from surgery, providing post-operative management, and addressing any complications that may arise. This role requires a strong understanding of surgical nursing principles, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities- Provide direct nursing care to patients in the Surgical ICU, including administering medications, monitoring vital signs, and documenting patient information.
- Implement, monitor, evaluate, update, and revise patient care plans to ensure the best possible outcomes.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams to ensure seamless care transitions and address any concerns or questions.
- Assess and coordinate patients' discharge needs, ensuring a smooth transition to outpatient care or continued inpatient care.
- Educate patients and their families on post-operative care, medications, and any necessary follow-up appointments.
To be considered for this role, you must have:
- A valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Florida.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).
- At least one year of acute care RN experience, with a focus on surgical nursing.
- A strong understanding of surgical nursing principles, including wound care, pain management, and post-operative complications.
Candidates with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree and experience working in a similar role are preferred. Additionally, those with certification in Critical Care Nursing (CCRN) or Surgical Nursing (CSN) are highly desirable.
