Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified Criminal Justice Instructor to join our faculty at Guilford Technical Community College. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching and developing curriculum courses in Criminal Justice, including Speed Measurement Instrument, and will have the opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of our students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach and develop curriculum courses in Criminal Justice, including Speed Measurement Instrument
  • Develop and implement effective instructional strategies to engage students and promote learning
  • Assess student learning and provide feedback to students
  • Participate in departmental and college-wide initiatives to improve student success and retention
  • Stay current with developments in the field of Criminal Justice and incorporate best practices into teaching and curriculum development
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice or a closely related field from a regionally accredited college or university
  • Valid North Carolina driver's license or the ability to obtain one upon hire
  • Current instructor certification by the NC Department of Justice, Training and Standards Division
  • Current Speed Measurement Instrument (SMI) Instructor certification by the NC Department of Justice, Training and Standards Division
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Criminal Justice or a closely related field from a regionally accredited college or university
  • 5 years of relevant field experience in criminal justice (law enforcement, corrections, probation/parole, homeland security, etc.)
  • Postsecondary teaching and/or industry training experience in Criminal Justice
Working Conditions

The successful candidate will be required to work in a fast-paced academic environment and will be expected to maintain a professional demeanor at all times. The position requires the ability to multitask, work effectively in a team environment, and adapt to changing procedures and protocols.

Physical Demands

The position requires the ability to stand for extended periods of time, lift up to 50 pounds, and participate in physical aspects of law enforcement work and physical training.
